Australian Financial Review Catches Up With David Scholes

Australia’s leading financial newspaper, The Australian Financial Review, recently featured David Scholes in a story celebrating the continued growing appeal from regional buyers with online auctions. Property journalist, Larry Schlesinger, wrote the piece for the 29th June AFR edition, highlighting SoldOnline’s successful progress, especially in the regional property market.

Showcasing recent sales

Larry Schlesinger said, “despite eased pandemic restrictions allowing the return of traditional auctions, online auctions remain a popular a way to sell prime farmland with a number of notable deals struck under the virtual hammer in the past week.”

The big sales success

SOLD FOR $12,600,000

David Scholes had the opportunity to showcase a couple of regional sales successes through SoldOnline including “Bangor South, a 2070-hectare cattle breeding and background property near Mungallala, east of Charleville in Central Queensland for $2.6 million.”

Larry added, “In May, SoldOnline achieved its highest-ever price under the virtual hammer when it sold 26,512-hectare Listowel Downs, a noted beef and sheep property south of Blackall in western Queensland, for $12.6 million.”

Words of wisdom

David added, ‘‘During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, rural agents were forced to consider alternative marketing methods for farmland. Many elected our virtual online auction platform to facilitate the transaction and most experienced a system that created more convenience, greater efficiencies, and heightened competition.

‘‘Quality rural assets are highly sought after and are no longer only pursued by local interests. Investors continue to pursue Australian farming entitlements, as do large scale family enterprises, and our virtual online transaction model allows participation from anywhere – be that home office, boardroom, or mobile phone.”

Innovative agents score the sales.

The AFR article was also an opportunity to put a spotlight on seasoned agents Rawdon Briggs and Trenton Hindman from Colliers International, big SoldOnline supporters and users who were the agents behind both the successful rural property sales in Bangor South and Listowel Downs.
